Limited SLip question...

I know that a Limited slip from a 10.5 superduty rearend will fit a 10.25 rear, my question is does it have to be from the same gear ratio?

Could I use a LS from a 10.25 rear with 4.10's in a 10.25 rear with 3.55's?

Or could I use one from a 10.5 rear with 3.73's in a 10.25 rear with 3.55's?

Yes. You will need to change the pinion bearing and seal in order to use the 10.5 gears in the 10.25 rear end though.

Ok, but a LS from a 10.25 rear with 4.10's would fit a 10.25 rear with 3.55's?

the 10.5 and 10.25 carriers are interchangeable without issue. Chase is correct about the ring and pinion

I was quoted $650 plus parts to install 3.73 gears in my truck... I think I'll live with crappy fuel mileage!

Maybe the crappy fuel mileage is for the rims, bug deflector and sunvisor. IDK.

so are the 3.55 gears or the 4.10's better for towing? I am sure I read this on another post somewhere but can't remember where...
Thanks

4.10's are better. More rpms from the lower gear. Better take off power as the rpms come up quicker.
