Texas 6.0 is starting off with a positive reputation.
2005 F350 6.0 with Oil in the Coolant?

Have a 2005 F350 with 130k, 6 months ago (at 112k) have the standard "cab off" 6.0 issues in which time the heads were pulled new ARP head stud with EGR delete kit. fficeffice" />>>
I have had a dark yellow substance in the coolant tank that when the truck cools down it sits on top of the coolant like oil. The mechanic that repaired the truck has not seen this and is not sure what could be causing it.>>
>>
Two main questions:>>
1) I don’t even know what is getting in to the coolant?>>
2) Every time I park the truck and get out, I smell Diesel BAD. But no leak anyware? >>
>>
Any help would be great.>>
>>
Thanks>>

Texas go start a thread in the 6.0l section and ask this question.
In what I've read oil in the degas bottle can be egr cooler leaking, you said that's deleted. Did he do it right? Oil cooler leaking. Blown head gaskets. You said you had arp studs installed. Did he reuse gaskets or messed up the new ones. I've read domething about some aftetmarket gaskets leaking. I cant remember why or anything. I hope you get it figured out.

Dieselpop is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
X2 cups if you remove the degasing cap and it smells like fuel or does it look like gray goo oil cooler. after you find out you should get this to clean the system just before the repairs to get it clean.

As dieselpop said, oil in the coolant doesn't look black. It mixes with the water and emulsifies. Looks like a chocolate milk shake.

I didn't catch the "yellow colored". I guess I just took it as oil in the degas bottle.
I'm going to look into the injector cup. I don't think I'll ever know enough about this engine. Lol.

All the injector cups were replaced, the heads were checked out and reinstalled with all new gaskets(dont have the specks on parts replaced). The substance does smell like diesel. Have done oil changes since repair and oil does not show signs of any type of mixture.

to me it just doesnt add up the mechanic said he didnt know what it was or what was causing it. And then you said he replaced all the injector cups. Injector cup replacment is not common at all. when did you find out he replaced the injector cups after you mentioned the problem to him and said something to him about diesel in the coolant ??

maybe he replaced all the injector o-rings I can see him doing that before replacing all the injector cups

look in the 6.0 bible under unique service procedures

Back in October 2010 the mechanic pulled the heads due to the fuel puking out the front of the motor. He said that i had two injector sleeves/cups that were cracked, and a failed EGR he replaced them all. As per him the heads were checked out and were not cracked and reinstalled them on the truck.

This current problem reared its uguly head 2-3 months after all work was completed.

FYI-The mechanic i used is an ex dealership head diesel guy that cuurntly teaches a class on diesel repair at the local collage.

From what i have been told if i had a cracked head, leaking head gasket, or a cracked injector sleeve this thing would'nt run 10 miles with out puking fuel all over the place.
