Rear Fuel Tank - Fuel Vapor Valve Replacement Help!
I am replacing the rear fuel tank on my '95 F350 5.8L because it's rusted through and am having a problem with the fuel vapor valve mounted on the top of the fuel tank (aft-of-axle).
First I couldn't get the old one off the old tank so I bought a new one today along with the grommet at the Ford dealer; luckily they had one in stock these seem hard to come by except maybe Ford or LMC Truck. Now I am having trouble installing it in the new tank.
Anyone have any experience with this? It seems I am close to getting that grommet in and seated if I push the valve through it first and then insert in tank. It is a very tight fit and using a screwdriver to wedge it in... tried for a little while before taking a break as I was getting ticked off at it. I also tried by first installing the grommet and then trying to push the plastic valve through. No wonder I could not get the old one out this thing is tight.
thanks in advance...

wow - I had lubricated with WD-40 before I had posted but can't believe what a little vaseline does! Got it in just fine, thanks!
btw... I searched but didn't see an answer to the question of whether of not it matters which hose gets plugged into which vent on the dual port valve... do you remember? I see the fittings are dissimilar, same size but a little different looking.

They were attached and I took them off not noticing they port tubes were a little different looking until later ... don't think it's a big deal I'll trace the tubes out. I already paid for the dual-port and installed it. I would have used my old valve but after 16 years the grommet was so hard it could not be separated from the tank.
