I have a 2004 F350 crew cab 4x4 with a 6.0L diesel. Code came up stating EGR valve. I had confirmed by diesel mechanic and he said I could either replace or delete. Any suggestions? Pro's Con's?
Do you know if you have an 03, or 04 motor? Getting rid of the EGR cooler is the real reason for a delete kit being installed. A new EGR valve will be a revised part which haven proven to be more reliable.
Do you have any engine mods, run a tuner, etc? Do you have diesel emissions testing where you live?
Heat kills a motor. I vote for the delete kit if you have time. Putting all that exhaust heat back into the motor is bad. To do it right, you have to change the down pipe

The downpipe has nothing to do with the EGR system. EGR gasses are introduced from the PS up-pipe to the EGR cooler.
The EGR cooler is a very effective heat exchanger. Delete kits can solve some problems, but be the cause of others.
William_04 I'm new here with a 2006 F350 6L Where can I get a delete kit and what problems can deleting the EGR cooler cause. Sorry not trying to hi jack your thread.
Deleting the whole EGR system just because a valve failed, is a rather extreme step. Unless you have other EGR related problems, why not just replace the valve with the new improved version?

William, I apologize, I meant to say the "up pipe". I have never herd of any issues deleting the EGR system, as long as it is done the correct way, by including the new "up pipe". Its not "natural" to add all that additional heat via the oil cooler back into the engine just to cool the exhaust just before it goes back into the intake. No, I didn't do it myself, but I expect to keep the truck and when I need to spend the time and money to rebuild, I will be deleting the EGR system. Hey, this is just my opinion, but I sure would like to hear about all the problems that are introduced by deleting the EGR system. Check this guy out, he has some really good information and experience. YouTube - powerstrokehelp's Channel
I opt for the delete as I started having the white smoke and had an 04 with 150k+ miles on it. I wanted to be safe and sure enough, when it was removed, you could tell that sucker was gone. I do not have emmissions, so I am good so far.
i have a 2004 fx4 done had to replace the egr valve on it now you can b at red light and it wants to jump and you can b going down the road and it lose power
