Anybody run high mileage oil?

bought a 93 4.9l bout 3 months ago and am slowly fixing it up while still driving daily. changed the oil when i bought it, fl1a and bulk oil from ford dealer i work at. changed it again 1500 miles later, fl1a again but this time used pennzoil high mileage 5w30. couple hundred miles after that the oil pressure gauge would flutter at idle in drive only, and stayed normal the rest. when i shut the eninge off i hear oil draining back into the pan, sounds like someone peeing real lightly. is that normal? other people ia ask say the sending unit needs changed, just wondering what anyone else thought...thanks!

I heard high mileage oil is just a big joke, dont quote me though.

Is it a constant stream sound or just drips? if drips then thats just normal, every vehicle ive owned does it after a drive

My 90's oil pressure gauge did that to. I added some lucas oil stabilizer. It did not completely stop the fluttering but it cut it down to less then half of what it use to. I use motorcraft 10W-30.

My 300 inline 6 also, you can clearly hear the oil run back to the oil pan. It's normal.

And don't waste your money on "high mileage" oil....

i run Schaeffer's synthetic motor oil and wix filters on both car and truck.the car is on all Schaeffer's lubricant.motor,,trans, rear end and grease.the only thing is that u cant find it in just any box/auto parts store, they have to be a dealer to sell it.there are 2 auto parts stores near me that sell it so im lucky around here.but traveling could become a small issue if u want to add and you dont bring any with.i just always have some with on extra long trips is all.plus they dont advertise so most people havent herd of them.but that keeps the price down for a specialty oil.heres a you tube video for thous that are looking for a good oil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05ol0...ure=related.im not a seller or in no way profit from the info just putting it out there and sharing.

thanks for the info...the gauge stopped fluttering, but now when i shut the truck off, and go into a store or whatever for a half hour or so, i restart the truck and its like i just changed the oil, rattles and oil pressure gauge slowly comes up and then is fine. i drained the 5 30 out and put 10 30 in. havent tried again to see if it loses oil prime or not
