It should start, the PCM will function on a default reading if the ICP is "MIA". I don't think it will "idle up" with the ICP unplugged...but it should start and idle some-what normal.

I think I'll just stick to my FE's, Clevelands, and Windsors if it is all the same to ya. Of course I have been thinking about a Crown Vic front end swap into one of my ole trucks and using the 4.6L for a power plant.

Well it was getting later in the day by the time we got the truck back together so we opted to put the mods off for another day. Not to mention it was like 98F yesterday, working out in the yard over a black truck.

I put my 80hp tune back on it last night it this thing runs like a scalded dog! Don't know if the idm was weak prior to failure or the icp we replaced was giving false readings.. Can't wait to get the other goodies on there.

Ain't nothing wrong with that. I happen to know where a spare 4.6L is sitting if you need one. It's got 140k miles on it...but still runs like a top.

The idm is the amp that drives the injectors. Its under the inner fender on the drivers side of the truck.

As Joe said it is the "injector Drive Module" it does a similar function as your FICM on the 6oh

That explains everything. Though I'm willing to bet a IDM is cheaper than a FICM. Can you repair a IDM? There are certain things that can be repaired on FICM.

It is board circuitry so yes it can be repaired, but IDM's aren't too bad price wise, alot of times you can get them from salvage yards, as there is not typically huge issues with them like the voltages on the FICM, new Clay sells them, Riffraff Diesel: Alliant OEM 7.3L Injector Driver Module IDM for $369

Well, let's see, I'll be gone from tomorrow until Mon and then I'm home for a while. Maybe I can come up and check out this next wrenching party

Is the next GTG still planned for the 23rd? I really need an excuse to miss this upcoming wedding
