300-6 very annoying *ticking*

Howdy guys. '89 F150 in my sig.

So this started couple days ago, only after the engine is fully warmed up, starts making this very noticable ticking sound witch is relative to engine RPM, coming from the drivers side of the engine, around where the distributor/spark plugs are. I couldn't narrow it down 100% cause it seems to be coming from all over the drivers side of the engine.

Almost sounds like way to much valve lash, but I opened up the oil fill cap while it was running, and the sound didn't get any louder.

It has a "loose marble" sound when it's cold coming from the bottom end, but that's hopefully do to a cracked flex plate, as it goes away when you put it in gear, though only does it when it's cold, when it's warmed up, starts ticking from the side of block...

What next?

Any ideas on this ticking sound?

John, my 89 F-150 with the 5.0l has that ticking sound....ive replaced the engine twice. I put a brand new engine in it with 0 miles. I have the T-19, I just assume its the transmission...but it sounds like its coming from the engine, which i ignore lol.

Did you do a oil change on the engine? Sounds like the lifters are ticking. Possable low oil pressure could do it.

Oil change was done not even 1k ago.

Valvoline/Wix filter.

When I look inside the valve cover from the oil fill cap, I see plenty of oil getting to the top of the head.

Useless gauge in the dash is always reading the same. Right in the middle of NORMAL

The "Gauge".....Its actually just a on/off switch...More of less....Only registers after about 5-7psi builds...
