Buddy's truck was stolen Saturday morning from infront of his house in Whittier, CA....truck is a 1979 Short bed crew cab, 40" BFG KM2's on 20x12 Weld Racing wheels, Dana 60 up front, 14-bolt in the rear, 460 with 5-speed manual, King shocks...please keep an eye out for it or anyparts that might end up for sale...PM me with any info thanks

I have a feeling that the truck has been stripped by now, or is in Mexico.

You have a lot to learn about the stolen vehicle "chop shop" biz, kiddo. Sadly, most peeps get away with it.

And, considering the circumstances (listed in the 1973/79 forum) inre to how quickly it was stolen, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this was an "inside job."

Someone who knew the owner (or knew someone that did) was aware he was going someplace, lied in wait...watching for the opportunity to steal it.

Peeps do not think, post pics of their vehicles on the internet with license plates plainly visible. You don't have to look very far to see a perfect example of this.

Some even take pics of their vehicles in their driveways and/or in front of their residences where their address and/or street signs are visible.

Pics should be taken in places (like parks) where only nature is visible in the background. And...cover up the license plates! Or blank 'em out after downloading the pics into your puters.

 

I agree, I'm guilty of it myself.
Thieves will steal almost anything if they are desperate enough.
But what gets me is, why would someone steal a vintage Ford Truck? They would only be able to sell the parts for it to someone who had another one or some situation similar. Which is why many cars get stolen, because a lot of people have them and they can get away with selling the parts because there is a supply and demand for the parts...

 

What is the most commonly stolen old vehicle? Did'ja say the 1964 Chevrolet Impala? Correctamundo.

Parts are getting harder to find every day for old rolling piles of misery, regardless of what make they are. The NOS/repro parts that are available ain't cheap.

It's a no brainer why this rig was stolen. The owner had invested mega-bucks, others coveted it. Someone coveted it enough...to commit a felony by stealing it.

What's gonna happen to the parts? I doubt they will be sold, because IMO, whoever stole it, has a similar rig.
