door lock cylinder

I am taking apart a 1951 F6, and I cannot figure out how to remove the door lock cylinder. The Shop Manual is no help. Any ideas?

Wow! Third post in about a week asking how to remove the lock cylinder.

Pull away the weatherstripping. You'll see a hole behind the weatherstripping in the area where the lock cylinder is. Use and flashlight and look inside the hole. There's a set screw inside holding the lock cyclinder shaft in place. It's usually an allen head. It's a very small screw. Pray that it's not frozen from the rust. The head is easily stripped. I suggest lubricating the screw and let it penetrate before removing it.

Thanks. I'll try soaking it. I already tried an allen, but nothing seemed to fit, so I thought there must be some other way.

I'm on my second one now. First one drilled out okay but this one now has a broken drill bit in it. Hopefully a local weld shop can get out for me somehow. What a horrible pain in the a$$!

I got the one out I was working on. It was definitely an allen set screw. I had thought that whole thingy turned, but out came the little set screw. The other door has one too, but it is bent upward somehow, so I have not started in on it.

I was just looking over the passenger side door today in my 52 Panel and saw that the PO actually cut the door edge on the inside by the latch mechanism with a grinder to get to the set screw. I haven't checked the driver's door. I've had the truck for about six years now and still keep finding things that the PO butchered or did wrong.

My truck was a dump truck--so bad it was given to me. It had so many cracks in it that the firewall was like mush and the door posts were not hanging on to anything. I have spent hours welding, and it is looking great and solid again.
