Prestone coolant for “all vehicles”

New to old trucks so this may be an obvious question. The coolant reservoir is low and needs more coolant. Is the prestone 50/50 coolant that is for “all vehicles” ACTUALLY good for our trucks? I know they originally used green IAT coolant. The bottle says it is compatible with all coolant types and colors (including IAT), but it seems odd that there is a “catch-all” coolant out there. Why would there ever be a need for different types (IAT, OAT, etc) and colors if this prestone stuff would suffice for all vehicles?

I’ve got Prestone in my truck and it is green if that matters. If you do get it though, don’t get premixed, you’re paying 6 bucks for water.

Not necessarily. The premixed coolant is mixed with distilled water.

I use garden hose water in all of my vehicles because they're old and decrepit. If I had anything nice I would buy the premixed stuff.

Going to a walmart in the midwest can cost you at the minimum, emotional stress, or at the maximum, your life!

97 and older fords use green. 99 and newer fords is G05, or gold /yellow coolant.
