Wheel / Tire combo question

Hey all, Just a quick question (hopefully). I bought a set of used alloys a couple months ago to put on my truck and replace the steelies. They are 16/7.5 M/T Classics that look a lot like the Alcoa Wheels that came on our trucks, and the price was right, but now I am having second thoughts. With a stock F350, what is the largest tire I can run on those wheels and not worry about rubbing? I'd like to go with a 33 or 35" tire, but with the rims being only 7.5" wide, I'm not sure they will be wide enough to run a tire that will look right. Also, I would like to maintain the E load rating of my tires since I occasionally haul heavy (about 2650 lbs in the bed right now ). So basically the question is, can I run a 12 or 12.5" wide tire on those rims and maintain my load carrying capacity, or do I need to get an 8 or 10" rim to run that wide? I see some guys running 12.5"s on the stock Alcoa rims, how wide are they? I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.

8" would be better but you'll be fine. Do you have a leveling kit? If not you may need to shim the front bumper out a little bit to keep 33's from rubbing in the corners. Same for 35's, I've seen guys run them on stock trucks but you have to shim the front bumper out pretty far to keep them from rubbing.

And you are running 12.5" wide tires? I don't have a leveling kit on it as of now, but I would like to do an RSK and level the front out a bit.

Any thoughts about hauling heavy with the wider / taller tires? I'm not concerned about the gearing as I have 4.10 gears, but I want to be sure I don't impede my ability to load heavy.

Just pay attention to the load ratings and recommended air pressures.

My 285's don't rub on my 250. I am running the steelies (hopefully not for long). I've been drooling over the Classic's but in black. Nice wheels and great tires from M/T.. I have no issues with the tire size except for the added MPG cost. When these tires are dead I'm going with the stock size: 235 85 16, basically a skinny 32"

I too like to keep my OEM Alcoa's rims, but would like to know how much taller I can go to try to lower the rpm's. I also think thin / cheese cutter tires work well in western, rock mountain states, but here in the gumbo mud midwest, a wider, mud tire, i guess would be better. I off-road to get to hunting spots and that's all.

I live in the High Desert at 6200' and it's mainly dry here. When it gets wet out the dirt turns into a clay like gumbo otherwise called caliche' (spelling?) It makes for tricky driving, like driving in pudding. The road to one of my destinations is like a rocky river bed (for 3 miles) and that's because the wet season or winter melts wash away any base there might of been. Anyhow I think I'm going to go with the BFG commercial tractions or the the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ in stock size, and with the M/T classic II blacks. (Before next winter).

After I install this HPX...Tires are next expense, kinda delayed the gauge set up for the need for good rubber....I am not a tire guy, and realistically, I need tires that will perform well ON the road, not too noisy, but have a little capability to provide decent dirt, snow, soft, mud traction...any thoughts? for my 16's?.....I would guess I drive 90% road 10% off road, mud, gravel...So Major....if you do run into a muddy patch out there, is rock not to far from the surface?

The rocks move around in the muck. There are plenty of loose rocks getting churned around and no real bottom contact, no stone base. It's like no mud bog I've ever seen. It's more like a mud track 1.5 trucks wide with ditches on the sides in many areas.
