what oil do you use?

Hi everyone! Thought it'd be fun to see what kind of oil and filter everyone uses in their 4.9
300 straight six?

I use valvoline synthetic, or penzoil synthetic and (used to be fram high milage
Filter) not after what you guys shared w/ me today I'm going to switch back to motocraft.
Everyone else????????

a man's choice in oil is much like his choice in women: it is strongly held to but supported little (if at all). i use house-brand (carquest, auto-value, napa, whatever) oils and have never had an engine failure that related to lube problems, so i'm more than satisfied.
as for synthetic, i've chosen not to, as synthetic has a bad habit of getting through that protective layer of sludge that used to prevent leaks, which then leads us down a path of chasing leaks.... even though it is a better lubricant

jk i use the cheapest synthetic i can find. sometimes ill create my own synthetic blend (1qt synthetic for every 1 qt conventoin) depending on whats accessible and not bein used around the shop(s). i cant justify spendin tons on the oil i put in the beaster, but i just cant drive myself to put all conventional in there. makes me sick.

I've always ran Valvoline or Shell Rotella T in my Diesels, witchever of those 2 are on sell, with a Motorcraft or Wix filter.

Always Valvoline in my gassers with Motorcraft or Wix filters as well.

this is no joke guy in town owns 2 cadilacs 1 1500 and a corvett doesnt change oil in anything just the filter lets it drain out and poor it back in he said he goes through a quart or so every 15000 miles maybe 1800 says that oil never breaks down just gets dirty

but anyway on dads and my 300 we use rottela t 10w30 and a two quart filter when its the middle of summer its 15w40 rottela
on the 302 tropartic and a fl1a
