hi guys,
I'm fitting a 302 engine with an AOD box to my 56 and I've got a bit of issue.the kick down rod hasn't got enough space to work, because the bulkhead in the way.I was thinking to change it to a cable, but emailed a company and they said will be a same problem.anybody has any good idea, how can I do it without to cut out the bulkhead?cheers,Tushy

Lokar makes a cable setup that will work for your truck.

An aftermarket cable (Lokar)can probably be made to work but the AOD's were put in everything in the 80's with a 5.0and no two TV rods were the same so if you have a pull it yourself parts place around a little time scouting around might yield a solution.

If you use the Lokar you may need to add an additional spring to return the TV all the way. Be sure to use a pressure gauge to set it up.

Hi Tushy, If you would please post photos of your progress I will really appreciate it as I'm going to do the same thing - '56 F100 with a 302/AOD.

Not where you are yet, but getting ready to mock up my engine/trans with crossbar to mount.

Thanks, Joe

I'm playing with propshaft at the moment,on prop shaft yoke has a keyway, end of gearbox hasn't got,and it's not going in all the way to the gearbox.maybe it's not from the same car how the guy said who from I bought everything.I'll get back to you.cheers,Tushy

AOD Rod

Tushy, have you tried putting a bend in the rod? Try various bends with a light rod until you find one that works, and then make one out of a larger diameter rod (for strength) in the bend area.

Hi Charlie, I know you had posted a photo of your truck with an AOD on one of my questions about cross members - you wouldn't happen to have any shots of your setup with examples of how your kick-down cable is set up on your truck?

Thanks, Joe

And Tushy....you have looked at this: http://www.lokar.com/downloads/pdf-i...aod_kd_kit.pdf

and it doesn't answer the question?

I'm just getting ready myself. Joe

I don't have any photos of the kick-down cable setup but I will be taking the cab off soon for paint so I'll take some at that time.
