MotorCraft Oil Filter part number ???

Hey guys.

Oil change coming up here soon. My shop didn't use a MC filter last time, as I requested, so I'm taking them a filter this time

Looked up the part # on MC's site and two #s came up:
FL-820-S
and
FL-820-SW

So...what's the difference?
Is the "W" designation the Windsor plant in Canada? Is this the metric size?
I think my local WalMart has the FL-820-S in stock, and I was going to run over there and grab one, but the "-SW" leaves me curious.

Whatcha got for me?

Right on Chandler, the W is for the filter with the metric threads. I remember reading this somewhere on the ranger forum back in the day.

They are both metric.
I'd get the FL-820-S and keep going.

Thanks fellas. I'd hate to look like a fool and show up with the wrong filter.
Much appreciated!

its the fl-820s sold at walmart. Recently they have shortened the filter a little. I think it says like "smaller size, same performance" or something.

Thanks. I knew about the smaller size...something like 5/16" shorter? Doesn't seem like that much really, as long as the filtration qualities are the same or better.

Thanks again for the responses guys...I love the brotherhood here

Get the FL-820-S its the proper one as for the size dont worry its good was changed due to tight space it helps a bit when changeing it .

Thinking aboit buying 2009 f150 fx4 with 78000 miles. My question is...if the previous owner didnt use the correct motorcraft filter and change oil every 3k, and the correct oil 5w20 i think it is, and when I buy it and immediately change oil with the correct filter and oil will i still have the dreaded cam phaser problems?

Thanks all

the oil and filter do not cause the cam phaser problem......... hopefully by 2009 most of the problems were fixed.
