I have A 2001 F-350 4x4 7.3L diesel that im starting to have slight concerns with the automatic transmission. I also have a rebuilt auto out of 1995 7.3 diesel that I bought for another project, just curious if anybody knows if this swap can happen and if so what problems I may occur?? Tried searching but having no luck. Thanks in advance!!

 

The trans from the 1995 is a E4OD, not a 4R100, basically the same, but I believe they lack all of the electronics of the 4R. I dont think your computer will be able to communicate with the E4OD.
There are also two speed sensors in the 4R that the E4 doesn't have.

 

It won't work. The '95 doesn't have the speed sensors that the newer PCM needs to work.

 

What about a custom PCM tune Mark? Could a tuner stick an E40D tune on a chip that runs split shot injectors and make it work?

 

I have no idea what a tuner can do.
