1962 Bumper and dash **** questions.

My truck came with the 6 bolt front bumper, three bolt on both sides of the license plate in a triangle pattern. Back in the day the PO welded on a home made brush guard that's not my cup of tea, mostly because I don't like big pieces of junk in my tea. So he threw in another bumper off a different truck that he said was the same but it has 4 bolts, two on each side of the license plate one right above the other in a straight line. I assumed it was for a different year or maybe even a rear bumper but looking at some pics online I see some '62 trucks with this bumper, most i've found are uni's. My 4 bolt bumper is painted but it looks like this one - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3475/...29526ffb1d.jpg What's the story with the different bolt configurations there and will the two bolt fit on my truck?

Also, what is the **** for on the extreme passenger's side of the dash between the glovebox and the door? My truck just has a plug there but i've seen some on eBay with the know, what's it do?

And the **** just right of the steering wheel is also a plug on mine but i've yet to see any pictures of a '62 that had a **** in that spot. Were there any and if so what did that **** do?

There's 2-3 extra *****/cables behind the seat and i'm trying to figure out if they go in those two spots with plugs or if they came off a different truck because the PO had a couple of them.

the hole on the far right is for a cable to open the floor vent in the kick panel area...typically trucks have both but given these trucks could be had any way one wanted, I suspect it was not wanted. The bumper you show in the pic appears to be a 67-77 type...the 64-66 type is nearly the same but the ends are shaped differently. The 67 up bumper was the type Ford used as a service replacement. the 61-3 3 hole bumper is I believe being repopped now...but most likely an imported piece.
The change was done for a reason I am not sure of. The 65- up trucks frames were all brand new due to the itegration of the Twin I Beam front suspension setup. I dunno about the 64 trucks though.

The dash *****/switches were left to right headlights, wipers, cigar lighter, choke, emergency flasher light bulb indicator, switch for emergency lights and heater/defroster switch/pull for defrost

I have extra bezels/switches if you are in need.

I hope this helps.

It is for sure and not bad either, i've seen the front in chrome for under $200, that's going to happen eventually, I was hoping to install my extra in the meantime

Well then mine are all screwed up, they're as you listed on the left three, then it's the blank spot, the choke and the fan HI-LO ****, there's a temp and something missing (maybe heater/defroster?) on a two **** setup under the dash on the right side

Your truck has the Deluxe heater...the extra 2 **** setup under the dash tells me that...the temp cable connects to the water valve under the hood inline with your heater hose.
Your truck didnt have the 4 way flasher setup installed though. The dashboard stamping itself was used in all trucks...medium and heavy trucks.
The blank cover is original and correct...the extra gauge on the RH side of your cluster isnt original though to your truck.
Your dash is also missing the dash end cap on the LH side...and given your truck didnt have a padded dash added over the course of time your end caps would be red to match the dash as would the heater grilles. If your truck originally had a radio the grille would be red or possibly chrome...an easy way to see if your truck originally has a radio is the 4 holes on the top of the dash the grille and retaining screws would be at. The radio antenna would be on the RH cowl with a contoured ovalish chrome bezel, a rubber gasket under it and a chrome nut on top of the bezel holding the whole tamale together.
The dashboard would have a handful of small screw holes and one larger hole in it for the dial indicator bulb as the main set mounted to the rear and the faceplate and dial mounted on front. Its possible when yours was cut for the radio in it now the hole was cut on 3 sides and the rest bent inward...thats how mine is...

Hmmn, that gauge is the oil pressure and the ammeter on the left side matches it, so they must have both been added later on. I'm not sure i've seen the dash end cap you're talking about, do you have a picture of it? What other **** goes next to the temp **** on the deluxe setup?

My 64 has the 4 bolt bumper, the Bumper on it now is off of a 79 Bronco. I want to trim it down because it is too big, but I know the early 64 and 63 and later had a different bolt pattern (3 bolts per side) I think the brackets for early slicks can be cut off and the 2 bolt braces can be installed. Being nostalgic I would go with an OE rather than change it. Mine has the bumperettes because I didnt want to throw em out.

What makes you say that? I just found a picture of a '62 with the same gauge - http://www.sff.net/people/mckitteric...ckup-dash2.JPG

on the gauges...you cant see the left one in the pic posted...no biggy...as to what Ford ORIGINALLY used in this application is the same exact pair used on the 65-6 CC clusters that had the optional gauges...most commonly found on the trucks with the sweep speedo. The original gauges had 'OIL' and 'ALT' printed on the gauge face and had a chrome round bezel and the gauge background is black with white lettering and orange needles to match the speedo.
On the trucks using the metal cluster bezel like yours, these clusters had a flat round trim plate in flat black that fit just inside the outermost ridge.
The dash end caps...look on any truck with a dash pic in the galleries of a completely assembled dash as original...they are held on by 2 chrome phillips screws.
I dunno how to post pics to the thread itself or I would.

Sorry Don, this info is in-correct.
Ask yourself this: Why did Ford change these two optional gauges in 1965? Here's a hint: Something was first offered as standard equipment in all 1965 FoMoCo vehicles (except Thunderbirds), that wasn't available 1961/64.

1963 Thunderbirds were the first to have it.

That's the puppy, but I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it.

There's 40 of these puppies still available from Ford Dealers/obsolete parts vendors, so ifin you want one, there's no hurry to buy it, as it's a 'cold piece' and will prolly be less than 30 bucks when you do.

Bill, I will reference you to illustration number P3553...In my paper book its in the misc. charts and illustrations section at the very front...pg 4 in my book..
My disc is MIA at the moment or I would reference where it is on the disc.

This illustration is the full F series dashboard blown apart. The illustration is such that when you blow it up on computer(if you have the disc as Bill does) or magnifying glass like I, you can plainly see the illustrated dial face on the gauges shown on the metal dash bezel in the round recessed areas is the one and same gauges used in 65-66 I referenced in prior post.
