Removing Speedometer (1st time), looking for tips

Hey all,

Need to pull the speedometer from the 56 to send it out, Ive never been inside the cluster before and am looking for any tips on removing just the speedo. Dont know how complex it really is.

can't help you (49 f1), do you have a manual? bumping you to the top so someone might notice and get you started.

Yeah, I checked the Shop manual and it doesnt really say much about fixing or replacing the speedometer, just the cable.

Wasnt sure if it just pulls out clean or if its hooked up to other stuff, seems like it would just be hooked up to the cable but im talking' out my a$$.

Be sure you use painter's tape around the outside of the cluster when you try to drop it back through the dash after you've disconnected the cable and wiring to the other gauges lots of sharp edges and you don't want to scratch the paint or the chrome.
