OT. a little Duramax info
I buy most of my Ford parts from a small dealer in Anna, IL.
They have been a Chevy dealer for a looong time, and just a couple years ago got a Ford franchise when the local Ford dealer messed up (long story)
Anyway, I am into the service/parts section frequently, and know alot of the guys. There is a local company that builds small buildings and sheds and they use a fleet of 2006-current 3500 Duramax's for their delivery, pulling trailers with these sheds on them (they catch alot of wind) anyway the driver's beat the **** out of these trucks, but when you don't own a truck, you tend to beat it ....
The trucks have had a fair share of problems, but I went there (the dealer) today and saw a Duramax there with the cab off, so I asked about, and they said it has a broken crank. That is the second one of these trucks with a broken crank in the last month. These are stock trucks, driven hard, but they still shouldn't be breaking cranks.... IMO they must be underbuilt...
Sorry for the long post,

They all have their major flaws. Ford with the powdered metal rods in 2001 and later models that shoot out the side of the blocks on stock trucks even. Duramax with weak çranks in later years and cummins with the "53" block and killer dowel pin but all those are rare cases. I wont even bring up the ford 6.0 lol

well i will bitch about the 6.0 i replaced 7 injectors today at work on 2 different trucks both had one injector with the solenoid sheared off i mean the torx screws that retain the solenoid to the inj body just sheared off and one had the spool valve throughbolt nuts walk off completly. i have more stories but i will leave it at that!

This truck on my trailer in my signature was my buddy's 03 (I think he's had several) had a broken crank. It had been turned up yet. He was just towing with it. Nothing major either. In the time I have owned my truck he has had 5 duramax trucks. I still keep up with them or out do them. He gets pissed either way. Works for me mines paid for!

I have a customer who had the broken crank/connecting rod issue.
Had injector work done due to the defect, motor grenaded.
He's driving a 6.slow right now
But... They really are not to slow. I got to drive. haha.
Their boost gauges are lieing SOB's though. Said I was cruising in town with like 5 lbs of boost!
