You can do away with down stream O2 but you can not do away with up stream O2's. Sensor on one side truck will run just fine computer doesn't know that it has true duals after '02.

Newer trucks (97+ I think) have an o2s before the cat and one after, you only have one just put it somewhere convenient.

Ignore that post. Doesn't have anything to do with your truck.

Your welcome. Good luck with the exhaust

Your engine will run fine reading off of one bank,my 95 has been that way since I put headers on it 2 years ago.

Mine is the same w/ headers.

Put it in the passenger side pipe, as close to the same place front - to - back as you can get it. Try not to have it any farther away from the motor is what I'm saying.

If your truck isn't already equipped with 2 upstream o2's the eec is only seeing one bank anyway. It has no way to adjust fuel to two banks, so it doesn't matter which side you put it on, it will work fine (but read exception below). Also, if you ever get a CEL, the code will default to bank1-right side, but it could be either causing the CEL. This makes trouble shooting a little harder on one upstream o2 sensor trucks because it doesn't distinguish banks.

Just fyi though...the factory uses a little connector pipe right before the cat on the y-pipe to read exhaust from both sides.

The only way putting in one bank could possibly hurt you would be if the other bank is running real lean and it is not detected in the exhaust because the o2 is located way upstream in the other bank. Personally I would try and get exhaust from both banks from an H pipe.

I am running true duals with the O2 sensor only on the passenger side ~6 inches below the collector. It has been this way for a year. I have never had a CEL or any change in fuel mileage, etc.
