The red Bronco on the cover of the latest LMC catalog looks like it was converted to 2wd and lowered. Looks good to me, which is why I got to thinking about making one like it.

Two wheel drive Bronco - that's funny only because I always get into arguments with the knuckleheads at Napa. "Yes, 1995 Ford Bronco, front axle shaft joints please." "Does that have four wheel drive? Air conditioning? What color are the seats? Does it have power mirrors? What engine? CD player?" "Well first of all, they didn't make a two wheel drive Bronco, and secondly I am looking for AXLE SHAFT JOINTS." Drives me nuts.

Yeah it cracks me up, but there are some differences between motors and options. Not too many, and I agree, for an axle shaft it shouldn't matter. Then if you say you just want the part, not to play 20 questions, they go on about not being able to warranty the part if they can't verify the truck.....

EXACTLY!! Man that's annoying.

Me: I'd like some lug nuts for a '78 Bronco, please.
Counter Slug: What year is it?
Me: Er, '78. Ford Bronco.
Counter Slug: Make?
Me: Ford.
Counter Slug: Model?
Me: Bronco.
Counter Slug: Engine?
Me: Lug nuts.
Counter Slug: What engine does it have?
Me: 400.
Counter Slug: Is that a 4.9, 5.8 or 6.6 liter?
Me: 6.6. The lugs are the same for all of them.
Counter Slug: 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive?
Me: This is a joke, right?
Counter Slug: No, why?
Me: The Bronco was never sold as a 2-wheel drive. Your system has an option for 2-wheel drive?
Counter Slug: So, 4 wheel drive?
Me: ... yeah.
Counter Slug: Ok, what were you looking for?
Me: Lug nuts.
Counter Slug: Is it a 5-lug or 8-lug pattern?
Me: Is it a 5-lug or 8-lu....... 5. They didn't come with 3/4-ton or larger axles.
Counter Slug: Ok. How many do you need?
Me: No wonder NAPA stays in business.
Counter Slug: Sorry, what?
Me: Nothing.

This happened just about a month ago. It's seared into my memory forever... the day I lost 42 IQ points in 30 seconds.

Hey Speedy, have a similar problem with my '78. They freaked awhile when I told them 460cid for the engine!
The lugs behind the counter see me coming and ask what kinda Frankenstein Ford I'm fixing now! They know better than to ask me too many stupid questions in a row now!

I would hate if i had to deal with that. The local oreilly auto parts (shucks) they sort of know me but i still have to tell them what my truck is... Kind of annoying

I don't really have one guy for parts but the oreilly i go to they are pretty cool there. They don't seem to know too much but i guess you can't know everything. I also ave a friend who works at Napa and he know quite a bit. I's just Napa is pretty pricey

I have a regular parts guy. He knows his stuff and doesn't treat me like I don't know what I'm talking about.

I do spend a lot of time and money there. I get a good discount on parts quite often less than the jobber price. It's a good thing cause the list prices are pretty high.
