block heater plug
I plugged my block heater in last night and came out this morning and the plug was super warm and the plastic was soft and plyable. The metal prongs wiggled (didn't think that was good at all) someone said that it had the possiblility of a grounding problem. I didn't have the time to chase it down this morning. But I've never had any troubles with it before

If there is a ground issue, it shouldn't pull any amps at all. Mine wasn't working over the winter due to the fact that the ground wire was corroded about 10" back up the line. I cut out the bad and soldered in a new wire/new plug and all is well. If you have a warm plug I'm willing to bet you have a bad plug, hot and or nuetral wire thats bad. I hope this helps and that sucks you are still plugging your truck in May!

Thanks for the help guys. it looks like the original plug so that's another thing on the to do list, feels like I never have enough time in the week to work, go to school, and look over the truck. It does suck kuz I am almost positive injector o rings are bad kuz she smokes blue at startup near every time and I think I have a few gps bad. Just can't wait for summer

Okay fellow FTE members followed the block heater plug and nothing is grounding to the frame, so that's a good thing. I actually never knew where the heater plugged into until now. Where it goes into the block it's kinda rusty ( micigan truck that used to plow snow). The majority of the plug is wrapped in the plastic wire cover, so could it still ground on the other wires? For now looks like I just need to replace the plug.
