Reverse Alarm

I have a reverse alarm on my truck, when I shift into R, an audible alarm outside the truck starts beeping (like a UPS truck). Does anyone know how to turn that thing off/disable it? Can't find any reference to it in the owners manual.
Thanks

can not use info center to turn it off you can only turn off the reverse aid but not the back up alarm also it is sooooo loud it can be heard even with windows up. I put in reverse with a upd driver next to me and he said it startled him and could not believe how loud it was......

The only way to turn off the back-up alarm is to physically unplug it. You will find the alarm mounted on the frame back by the spare tire. More info can be found in the following thread...

Welcome to the garbage truck bridgade! I originally unplugged mine for the winter and have since installed a switch to turn it off. If I get some time, I will post a picture of what I did.

There is actually quite a bit of truth to that... The unit is a very common one found on many commercial trucks out there. A 102 dB of "get out of my way"...

sorry, missed the external alarm option on Job 2.. never mind

but, if you asked for it, why would you want to turn it off?!

I know.. cause you don't want it ALL the time..

Get under the rear bumper above the receiver on the passenger side and unplug it. Easy to see that little noisemaker!

Pretty funny! Actually, when I go to the dump to drop off my recycling, I turned it on to backup to the recycling drop off point. Love the look all of the other truck owners give me

With the warmer weather,

I'm looking for a way to ARM and DISARM the backup alarm using upfitter switches. There are times I want it "ON", such as busy parking lots, and times I want it "OFF". Like a campgound w/o trailer in tow.

If you have pictures, or install procedures.... PLEASE POST.. Maybe in a new Post...

Unplugged mine after owning it for a few days. I figured I was pissing my neighbors off every night when I back into my driveway. I know it was pissing me off!!

You could use a relay and the upfitter switch if you have one.... That way not to clutter up your dash.

That was an easy fix, unplugged and taped it up. If anyone does hook theirs up to the upfitter switches, please post up pics or the how to. I would like to have the option to turn it off and on from the cab.

all you need to do is run a power wire from a upfitter switch to the rear of the truck. Install a relay that when you put power to it, it will connect the reverse alarm to the stock wiring, thus turning on the relay. Or you could wire it so that when you flip the upfitter switch, it will shut off the alarm. Real simple.
