You'll be that guy everyone in town hates, and everyone you go off road with laughs at behind his back.
I suspect he has no idea what open headers sound like.

I installed some Hooker Competition long tubes in my truck last week and had to drive it from my place to my friend's exhaust shop a few miles away with just the open headers to weld up the rest of the exhaust and it was EXTREMELY loud. Even at part throttle it was unbearable.

Haha wow a couple people got the wrong idea. Im trying to NOT be that guy haha. Also thanks for telling me that open headers would actually be down on power, i guess when your motor isnt built up then it really doesnt benefit from it that much. Ive decided to go with glasspacks or turbos and pipes dumping mayyybe in front of the rear tires, just need to decide what kind of mufflers i wanna run.

If you want cheap, do a dual 2.5" setup with a generic turbo muffler. The mufflers will run you $20 each. Probably around $50 for the Dynomax Super Turbos, but for a stocker you likely wouldn't notice a difference in performance. If you want a more aggressive sound just do duals, side pipes or whatever, but with no crossover. A crossover (H pipe) will tone it down and quiet the exhaust some. Running no crossover won't be obnoxious though.

Glasspacks aren't my thing. No reason to run them unless you're pushing a lot of power and actually need a straight through muffler to not lose power.

I know that glasspacks wont make any sort of power difference compared to turbo mufflers, but i do like the way they sound. Just a personal preference for me i guess.

I used to have a glasspack on my truck, and it sounded okay, but I much prefer my Flowmaster 40 Series. I have no exhaust after the muffler, it just dumps out at the muffler outlet. Sound level isn't low by any means, but it's not unbearable either. I've never had anyone tell me it sounds bad....

yeah, the two feet of pipe that i have behind each header makes alot of difference. without them I could tell that the carb tune would really need to change just to get it to somewhat run right. muffler type and brand are largely a personal preference. the only problem was that my temporary exhaust has been more permanent than an engine, a rearend, and two transmissions... probably because of the number of compliments that i got on the way it sounds, and the kid that tried to moon me, but ended up tripping with his pants down when i cracked the throttle open and let her sing!

good times.
