Should I use E7TE heads on my engine build

I have a 1983 F250 with the 460. The engine is getting tired and i am starting a builder project to replace it. I work at a mechanical shop and have access to two 460s that came out of 87-96 F250s that we have scrapped. I am using the block and low end for my engine build but i am not sure if i am going to use the E7TE heads they have. I am not using any of the EFI components, it will become a carboreted engine. I dont have any other heads to put on this build so I was curious if it would be a good idea to use the E7TE heads. I am not trying to build a monster engine or any high reving machine. It will be a mild build, (I will probably be using an Edelbrock performer intake with a 600-650 cfm carburetor) please advise if these heads will be good for my project or should i do some shopping around. Thanks

Well In my oppinion i think the E7's are one of the worst as far as power wise goes(small valves, big chamber). If it were me id use your heads with maybe a little port work, straight up timing gear, bump up the compression to 9 or 9.5:1 and use the intake you listed with a 750 CFM carb. That should give you a mild, reliable 300-350 horse all day.

Fulie heads are not going to fit the carbureted intake or exhaust manifolds you already have.
If you have the exhaust system from the donor then you could use an adapter plate from Price Motorsport to put a carburetor onto the lower intake of the EFI engine.

thanks for the help. I have had a change of heart on the set of heads im going to use. I have a friend that has a set of 429 D0VE heads. Now my next challenge is to lower the compression so that i am not having to use premium fuel or octane booster

You can always buy thicker head gaskets from Cometic and others if you want/can reuse your pistons.

If you are building another to replace it, you are going to have to get new pistons anyway, so instead of getting thicker gaskets, why not get a set of dished pistons with the proper cc of volume taken out?
