hey guy sorry I havent been around much. trying to get a computer up and running the way I want.. and Im no IT guy.
so anyway for the OP.
heres the thing a used truck with the wrong cluster smells kinda fishy to me. kinda sound like odometer tampering. Thats just my opinion, take it leave it.
also the fact the abs controller has the worng VID. take a good look at the truck for prior body damage as well. the pcm and the abs module are not to far apart.
now on to the concern. you have a VID mismatch. the right way to program is..
a: download the data off the old unit. upload it to the new. Not always possible
b: download "asbuilt data" from Ford and flash the new unit. after this method you would have to just set a few things.
Ive had one pcm so far that would not program. ordered a 2nd new went fine.
IMO the tech working on the truck should try to flash the abs controller as if it were a new unit and see if that works.
