7.3 liter and waste vegetable oil bio diesel

Hi folks. While I show up as new I have been referencing them for years I own an F-350 quad cab 8' bed super duty 7.3 ltr diesel. Like most of you I'm sure the price of diesel is getting ridiculous and I am looking towards making my own biodiesel for my baby. My brother in law has been making his waste vegetable oil bio diesel for the last couple years for his old Mercedes car for about 73 cents per gallon all said and done. He is going to show me the ropes to it but wanted me to make sure it was safe for this 7.3 ltr to run. So my question to you is exactly that. Can this 7.3 ltr handle straight wvo bio diesel and are there any recommendations or modifications that need to be made before doing so. Thanks in advance for any answers, Regards, Roger Funk III

Make sure its VERY CLEAN and if your truck has a fuel pre-heater make sure it works to pre-heat the veggie oil before it hits the motor so its not thick and makes for a slow or no start! I would try starting off with a mix of diesel and bio-diesel to make sure the truck will AGREE with it and also make sure you keep a spare FUEL FILTER behind the seat...ALL DIESEL OWNERS SHOULD KEEP A SPARE FUEL FILTER IN THE BACK SEAT YA JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN UR GONNA GET BAD FUEL!!!! BEATS PUSHEN THE TRUCK HOME

WVO and biodiesel are two different things. You'll need to know exactly which one you're asking about to get better advice. Processing / cleaning will be key in your endeavor, but there are several who have successfully run both in a 7.3.

Scroll further down the main forum listing and you'll find a biodiesel section. Ask those guys for advice and learn from them.

It is straigt veggie that require dual fuel, switching valves and heaters.
I used over 100 gallons of bio in my 7.3 just fine (got it at discount that is why I went for it)
Bio is direct equivalent for diesel and unless in extremely low temperatures, no modifications are required. It did produce less HP and less MPG, but nothing is free.

I run B100 in my 7.3. I have about 70 gallons on the truck right now. I have put over 50,000 miles on my truck running some mix of biodiesel. 85% of those miles were B100. I haven't had any problems with it. I buy mine.
