I wish I would have had my camera in 2005, when we were up at Dubois, Wyoming. We were on our way back to my mom's place in Lander. Right south of Dubois, there is one of those highway message signs, saying "speed limit 25, excessive deer activity". I'm thinking "Okay, probably see a few deer down here". Drove down through the canyon, and at one spot, it widened out into a meadow. There were, and I ***** you not, hundreds, and I mean HUNDREDS of deer. On the road, along side, in this meadow. It was just nuts. We were going like 5 mph, so the deer could get out of the way. And, of course, the camera was at my mom's. I would have gotten out of the truck for that picture!
That's a lot of deer... I went to Jackson, WY one winter when we lived in MT... There is a winter elk refuge just north of town... never seen so many elk, they were just hanging out, waiting for the spring thaw so they could head back into the mountains and Yellowstone Park. I need to find those pictures and scan them.
