Best 460 camshaft for gas mileage and towing?

Who has the best 460 camshaft for gas mileage and towing? Brand and model, what are your experiences with the various grinds that are out there.

Engine is a .040 over 1979 460.
Carburetor will either be 600 or 750 cfm AFB.
Gears are 3.54.
Transmission C-6
Chassis is a 1986 F-350 crew cab
Stock compression and heads. I might be willing to mill the heads; if you guys have noticed significant gains.
I will occasionally be doing heavy towing.

millin a couple thous off the heads will help more than you might realize. those compression points count, and were in rather short supply through the 80s. personally, im a huge fan of crower cams. just follow the tabs on their page. for most of the cams, it tells you were the cams powerband is gonna be at. of course, it will change a little dependin on your setup, but it gives you a ballpark. crower.com

Cams are like women they are pretty much the same, but everybody has their own personal likes. I had the Crane RV cam in mine, but couldn’t get it through California smog and had to remove it. It is laying around in a box somewhere. I think I will put it is the classifieds someday. The moral of the story is; if you are in a heavy smog test state be careful. You might not get it through smog testing with a modified cam in it.

i like comp cams old school '260 or 268' the 260 is very good for low end tork the 268 [what i am running now in my 79f350 s/c w 12ft camper] pulls a lot better from the line and holds the speed on the highway/hills fairly good with out putting your foot in it all the way even with the gearvenders overdrive/c6/3.73 gear/edelbrock intake/600cfm carb/headers/2.5' duels set up and i get an honest 12mpg with the 2500lb camper on and about 15 empty [canadian gallon=4.5 ltrs] american gallon would be 3.8 ltrs
the only thing i would do differnt would be to run stock lifters not impressed with the comp cams ones i got with the kit they seem to rattle a bit much[noisy]

I doubt it.. .they made a **** ton of cams before they went under. But pretty much any "RV" grind has the goal of low end torque and fuel economy. How it actually performs for you will depend a lot on your gearing and stall converter if an automatic.

Maybe I'll frame it and hang it on the wall.
