Torque convertor?

That makes sense. What is inside there that locks up? Is it a friction surface? (On a stock unit)
What about low end performance, basically like pulling away from a stop? how should that be judged?
I haven't decided if it is just poor memory, or if it in reality doesn't work as well as it used to.

MadVan is the guru on trans around here. I'm just guessing but if its staying unlocked until about 35mph then locks and stays locked I would think your OK. On mine the lock occures between the 3rd and 4th gear shifts. If its slipping alot then your oil will get hot, that's about all I know.

I dont think that mine is giving me a problem, the temp is fine the shifts are fine. I just got to thinking about it yesterday when I had a load on, I suppose you always want more performance, but it gets the job done the GVCW was 34620
Part of it is that I just only know enough to be dangerous when it comes to the inside of the trans
