Best lift Ideas for my F-150

OK guys here is what I am after. I want to lift my truck with a 3 inch body and 4 inch suspension. What is the best way, products, places to get, for this with all of you which have done this.
My truck is a 1978 F-150 4x4 and is all stock except for the Dupont flat bed on her. I am running 31-10.50 x 15 inch wheels now, but want a much more aggressive stance for my ole girl.
So guys, where do I begin this adventure? Is the body lift along with the 4 inch to much? Is there a nice and better way at a lower level of height? Needing a lot of help as I have never done a lift before and am wanting to go in the right direction with my baby...Here on some pics of her now...

Personally i'd just scrap the body lift idea and go with a 6" suspension lift, there's tons of aftermarket options available such as Rancho, Superlift, Skyjacker, Tuff country, etc.

CueMan, lifts are awesome. I have a 77 F150 4x4 and I put a 9" suspension lift on mine, along with 38" tires. I got the "complete" suspension lift from skyjacker and it really wasn't complete. I needed a few other things to complete the lift. You will have to look at lots of things before you actually decide to lift your truck and how you want to lift it. Longer break lines, you may have to move mounts and brackets to keep things lined up correctly. If you lift your suspension 4" will you have to get longer drive shafts? or will you have to lower your transmission and transfer? I had to get 2 custom shafts, longer break lines, a bracket to lower my track bar, which I also had to get an adjustable one to get the right length. There are many aspects to look at. It's fun though!

Up to a 4-inch lift does not require longer driveshafts. More than that and get ready to throw some more money at 'er. Ya might have to get longer brake lines as I did with mine. It was a hair too taut for my personal comfort.

Personally, the stance of a 4-inch lift with 35x12.5x15s looks right and works fine with 3.50/3.54 gears for mild trails. For more rugged terrain and rocks, then 4.11 or 4.56 gears would work better.

For lift kits, I like Rough Country or Superlift.

So ur sayin I can go 4 inch suspension, and just add new, longer brake lines and the drive shafts will be ok?
Any problems with burnin up u-joints stiffinin the angle of the drive shafts?
I am going to use this as my daily driver, what is the best of the 2 you suggested for ride and comfort? I have a set of 1 ton overloads on the back springs now which stiffins up the ride a lil. Not gonna be a mudder or trail riding truck, perdy and useful is more like it!
And if I go with a 4 inch lift and forget about the 3 inch body lift, is there anything else I need to look at or worry about? Lift or replacement wise?
Lets here from all you guys who have taken one of the ole F-150 from stock to 4 inch suspension!
Also, I just purchased 4 new 15x8 inch rims for my truck, think this will hold the tire I need for the right look once lifted? What size tires would be best for the look of full, wide, and fitting?
Thanx for all the help so far, keep it coming, always here to learn!

I just got 33x12.50r 15's for mine as I thought the 35's looked to stuffed with a 4" lift. As far as brand, I am going to go with BDS suspension because they offer a lifetime warranty on their parts.

I my self like deaver springs for ride and comfort them flex more so they ride a little better i had super lift springs on mine before the deavers and wouldnt go back if someone paid me too. The 15x8 should be ok if you are going with a 12 wide tire anything else you will need wider rims if you buy a kit from jeffs bronco grave yard it seems to come with everything you need it will cost you between $600-$2000 depending on the kit you get.

The driveshaft length should be okay. I didn't have to lengthen mine. Verify with whomever you buy the lift. All the manufacturers I contacted said I did not have to get longer brake lines. However, I went ahead and replaced the rear hose because I thought it was too taut for my personal taste.

I have a shortbed 4x4 and haven't encountered any issues with U-joints. I used lift blocks.. the blocks are tapered to correct the driveshaft angle.

Comfort? These old 4x4s run stiff. I have my 01 SuperCrew for ride and comfort.

IMO, a body lift is more trouble than it is worth.

Replace all suspension bushings with polyurethane. I like black poly bushings... Red seems to say "Look at me, I'm a red bushing". Kinda lame IMO. BTW, I installed radius arm drop brackets and went with 2 to 4 degree corrected C-bushings.

My rig runs 15x8 steel wagon wheels wearing 35x12.5x15 Goodyear Wrangler ATs. It's a trail truck more than a mudder. You'll find that tires generaly vary in shoulder profile, overall height, and road noise. To me, the combination functions perfectly for my use.
