little update
since i havent been around to much in a while.. thought i'd let everyone know how my 63 is doing.. she is running great..
when i first got her i had problems with the fuel tank being rusted.. ended up buying the wrong tank for it.. but just wanting to enjoy my truck i installed it anyways(the 56 style tank) well last summer my ex's step dad decided to skip out on his bail bond.. and didnt take all of his possesions.. he left behind a nice early 70's half ton ford.. clarissa really wanted me to save the truck because she wanted to drive around in it..but i told her it was best to just leave it because of title problems.. but convinced them to let me pull the tank and other various parts off it before her they where evicted.. only really wanted the tank so thats all i grabbed.. tapped it with my hammer and i couldnt hear ANY rust falling on the inside unlike my original tank.. so no more rusty gas.. fuel filler on the correct side.. onlything is it's black not the original color for mine but thats okay..
last year my carb started having problems. a buddy who owns a 66 came over and noticed i had a old yamaha 200cc threewheeler laying around.. he asked about it.. i told him either 300 bucks(its what i paid for it before i rode the hell out of it and broke some stuff and would be about the same price i figured for a brand new carb) or a good carb for my ford.. he quickly found me a later model carb(not sure on what it came off of, but only differance really was the one he brought was an electric choke..) not really knowing how to set up an electric choke, and liking the good old manual choke i swapped parts around and converted my new carb to a manual choke. set it on top of the manifold and then left it for a while..
finally got the time to work on it in march.. got the carb all bolted down. fuel lines hooked up, and went to fire her up.. and nothing.. check for spark.. no spark.. not knowing how points work i tried running a hot wire to my coil thiking that was what was wrong... nope.. new coil.. that didnt fix it.. so i convince my old man to stop by and help me out.. he tells me to gap the points... so i pull out my book and to figure out the right measurement.. and go to look for my gapper's i only find 4 of them.. lucky for me.. i find the exact one the book calls for(it said .015'' for a 1960 figure a yblock is a yblock its close enough.. it is now on my key chain to be able to find it when i need it next) first turn of the key and she lives again..
i was so happy to hear those headers dumping the exahust out dual cherry bomb turbo mufflers again..
