Gas Tank Solenoid Switch Issues

Gas Tank Solenoid Switch Issues
Hey All,
I have a 1991 Pathfinder E350 Super Club Wagon.
When I 'switch' from the Front Gas Tank to the Rear, the Gas Gauge switches but not the Fuel Pumps. The Gauge will switch to show the level of Gas in the Rear Tank, but I will still be running off the Gas in the Front Tank.
I tested this by completely filling the Front Tank and running it until the Gauge was just below half. Then I switched to the Rear Tank which reads 3/4 full. I ran for a while with no movement on the Gauge. Then when I switch back to the Front Tank, the Gauge reads near empty.
I thought the 'Switch' was a single Solenoid that changed both the Gauge reading and the priority of the 2 Fuel Pumps. In my case, I get the changing of the Gauge reading, but not the Fuel Pump.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The "switch or valve" that actually determines which tank is being DRAWN FROM is located on the frame rail just under driver seat area, it's not too hard to identify, has four fuel lines connected to it.
I had to change one on my old '89, fuel WILL DRAIN when you disconnect so be careful.

Does that solenoid control both? Thanks.

Actually mine was just the opposite, tank worked but not the gauge. I only went looking for the switch valve when it started leaking. Have you tried pulling the switch out on the dash to see if your getting a good contact the all connections? That switch SHOULD send a signal to the valve and sending unit.
You may have to trace the circuit to see where (or not) you're getting power.

But, it was half price day at my local 'Pick Your Part' and I picked up a Fuel Tank Switch Solenoid, so now I'm back into this problem.
So before I switch Solenoids, is there a way to test the Solenoid I got from the Junkyard first?
Thanks.
