What changed between the '72 & '73 F-250 4x4s?

I have a '72 and I'm thinking about adding a '73 to my stable. I "think" in '73 the frame widened and the tank went from the cab to under the bed, but thats about it other than cosmetics. What can you guys tell me about the 1973 F-250 4x4s? Thanks

No the frames on the highboy's were the same from 67-77 and most highboys still had in-cab tanks. 77 was the last year for the in cab tank. The body style and interior are all that really changed.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe 73 is the first year of the NP205 transfer case, as where the 67-72 used the Dana 24 transfer case. Also, I think 73 was the beginning the Heavy Duty Dana 44 axle option with the external locking hubs. I don't know if 73 was first year for optional auto trans. These are some differences I can think of.

actually in cab tanks were used right to the end on 79's. most tow trucks have in cab tanks (we bought several new). and i think most chassis cabs were sold with in cab tanks as well. hawkrod
