to post pics you can go to photobucket.com and post your pics there. then copy the the url for the photo and paste it in the text field when you're posting.

dont ya love a good running truck for under $1000. a buddy of mine has a theory that any vehicle that runs and will pass inspection is automatically worth $1000 no matter what kind it is. i guess that is assuming it stays running.

cant help ya with the cold air.

I don't have a picture right now as going outside of work and taking a picture of your truck's engine bay is kind of weird.

But my truck has that plastic tube that mounts to the edge of the grill removed as well as the stock airbox. The stock hoses are all the same. It has a K&N #RF1012 filter that I believe goes with a custom mounting plate to hold it up.

I'll try and remember to take pictures after work.

The stock setup for that truck is actually very good. Us SBF (302/351) guys go to junk yards to get the stock 300 setup for our trucks. The stock setup would get you much more cold air than the RF-1012 (pictured below).

I had one of those and other than costing a lot of money, it pulled it warm air and let in more dirt. (my current setup pulls in dirt, but the air is cooler than that old setup)

The link posted ealier is a great idea. Here is another idea.

I agree, as shown, the photo shows a HOT air intake.... a definate step back from the power increasing STOCK cold air intake system!

Of course I imagine that it made more noise, and more noise always means more horsepower... right?

I'd skip the "cold" air intake if I were you, air intake is not what is holding the 300/6 back. And like others have mentioned, adding K&Ns like pictured above actually hurts performance by letting in hot air from under the hood. It's pretty tough to get much more out of a later, FI 300, Ford didn't leave much power to be had without major expense. That motor is all about torque, not high RPM horsepower.

I agree that the air intake system on an I 6 may not help much with that low rpm motor , but on the higher reving V/8s you can pick up as much as 15 HP depending on the motor....Lew

I made an intake duct for mine that goes from the left lower grille opening down to the stock air duct in the core support. Not only is it cold air, but it's ram air!

I'd love to see pics of that if you could!!!!!

I'm just trying to get the most out of my motor,
I'd like to get rid of the terrible factory air box,
And I heard if you "open up" the air and the exhaust
You get better performance....whatever that means.. I know the basics of mechanics......my skill level 3 outta 10. Lol. Tuneups and oilchanges and stereos

Hey Lew, I agree here, but I've also heard that you can gain about 1% hp increase for a 10°F cooler intake charge...

So if you get anough air to gain 10HP (a 5% gain), and end up with a 50°F warmer intake, then your results are canceled out. While you break even in HP, you still are loosing torque (and mpg) in the low end due to the heat.

I've used 2 different K&N Setups. One that had no heat shield (pictured above), and another with a heat shield. I notices no gains with the non shielded kit, but I did seem to notice a performance gain with a shielded kit.

Granted, all testing is very subjective, but that's just what I noticed.
