Compressor maintenance

It's that time again for my spring maintenance on the old compressor. I am in need of a new drain **** as mine has seen better days, anyone have a better system that what comes stock (60 gal upright unit) ? Also would like to hear thoughts on moving it outside in regards to longevity, pros/cons for doing so.
Thanks,
w

I followed the suggestions last summer, and put a small ball valve on an extended pipe.

1/4 inch all fittings, 90 degree close elbow, pipe, ball valve, pipe, hose to bucket, (or outside)

kick the valve with my foot, and then close it again..
had to lift the compressor 1/2 all the way around..

just took out a quart of water this weekend

I am using pretty much the same as Sam for the drain. My compressor is outside with a small awning covering it, so nice not to have to listen to all of that noise

I did about the same, but the velocity is so high out of the ball valve that I either have to let the pressure die down to 20 psi first (before blowing) or spray snotty stuff all over the garage. I'm thinking I may add a trap of some kind.

I wanted to do an oil change on my compressor...however I cant find any specs on the pump so I am SOL.

I hope next week I will make it out to get all the fittings to finally hook it up. My hoses and water separator are all in place, the hose is just laying loose. I gotta get to work on that soon.

just drain it to a bucket and put the same amount of 30 ND back in... it should be fine...

Mine sits in an unheated addition to the shop with an insulated wall between shop and compressor... hard to hear it run at all... I just see the lights dim when it kicks off.

I used a 3/8" street ell to a nipple about 24" long to a 1/4 turn ball valve then a hose barb to a length of hose that runs thru the wall outside... if I open mine at full pressure the noise is outside... I used to have an auto drain but it was continually stopping up... replaced it with the ball valve...

Catch H.F. for a reel on sale for less than 20 bucks...

Thanks! I wanted a hose reel for near the door. By my bench I just used a huge *** rubber coated hook. I wanted to T off at the separator and run a line near the door for driveway work, air tires without having to move the garage around and such...

I use the same set up too. Ball valve with a 90° elbow and short length of pipe. I have an auto drain on a water separating filter and another water filter before the motor guard filter on my Plasma Cutter.

I am looking for an old AC Condenser to use as an intercooler for air going into the tank from the compressor. I was told that would take a lot of the moisture out of the air.

I have a fitting in the end of the valve to put a short length of hose on to get the noise outside. I wonder if one of those air ride mufflers would quiet that down any or would it just get fouled up?

I did the same but I put another 90 at the end into a small container, just need to crack the valve and it empties into the container..........open the valve too much and you get a face full . I want to make some air cooling tubes but I don't have any room, so my blast cabinet has a water trap and so does the compressor.
