Does it really help improve the gas mileage to remove the front driveshaft from A 1986 F-250 4x4 460 I hardly ever use the 4x4 except for when i go up to the mountians.
I've been thinking hardcore about swapping a 6.9 into my Ford, by purchasing a whole nother truck. I've found one thats a good deal, needs a new tranny, but mine is the same as that one. Anyway, bit off topic there, but that always is an option. I heard from my PO my 460 gets between 10-12 mpgs, if you have 4.10s run a 35 inch tire that will drop your rpms.
Thats another thing. your tranny and gears will help. I got the 3:51 in mine and runnin 235/16 mudders and the c6. I plan on keepin the gears and goin to 285/16 ATs and a ZF5 speed
I have no idea what gears are in this truck I do know that it has a granny 1st gearguy i bought it from used it to pull a trailer as a 5th wheel right now it has 32 x 12.50 / 16.5 on back and 265 /75 / 16 on front
