78-9 tilt column turn switch

Just a note to you guys with turn signal switch problems in these columns. I've discovered that the tilt column switches all the way to 86 (van and pickup) will fit these. The wire colors may not be the same but it's not too hard to figure out.

78-9 tilt column turn switch

I actualy just put one out of a 87 or 88 in mine. I think they would go up to as far as 91.All the wires where the same right down to the colors.I just pulled out the wire going the key in ign. buzzer and added the wire going to the gear indicator light from the orginal harness.

78-9 tilt column turn switch

another thing about these column's i found out is. the tilt mechanism on the van's and some full size car's are the same. so i bought a tilt from a van with the key in the column. and put the top half of the column with the key in it. on my tilt column from my truck. now i have a locking steering wheel. next i'm gonna hook up the ignition switch from the dash to the column switch. but i'm gonna keep the ignition in the dash so if someone try's to steal my truck they wont know what the hell is going on.
