2011 F250 Steering Wheel Rattle
Greetings...
I posted a while back and saw a couple others post about an ever so slight but increasingly annoying steering rattle when going over bumps.
You can replicate by grabbing the top of the steering wheel and pulling in and out.
You can also grab the shaft (steering shaft) under the dash where it goes through the firewall and move it up and down slightly. That also replicates the click felt in the steering wheel.
It looks like its a bearing in the column it self. I can disconnect the intermediate shaft and the noise is still there with nothing connected to the column. I can still pull the top of the steering wheel in and out to reproduce the sound.
The dealer said that it was a bad design and that the would be more than happy to replace it but I hate to replace a bad design with another bad design.
Thanks for any tips.

steering rattle
i have a 2011 f-250 crew and have the exact same problem--dealer tells me to get use to it, its a trait of the truck. after 6 complaints and a different dealer it looks like there may be a new steering assembly going in ( ford has to approve) alarming part is my truck has 14000 miles on it, so whens the replacement going to fail?
