Well, about a year and nine months ago I got a job running a dump truck for these guys. I did that until a year ago and then they put me in a set of belly dump doubles (ten-axle set). I also ran their side dump trains and truck and pup sets on and off, kind of doing whatever they'd let me do on the dirt side. However, I was always looking forward to being able to switch over to the flatbed division and getting a nice truck to cruise down the interstate with. Well, I'm just about to turn twenty-one, so they're ready for me to go over-the-road. To get me a bit of experience loading a flatbed, they've let me switch over about a month early and I've been making overnight trips to the other end of the state for two weeks now. It's been a whole lot of fun! I've been buying a bunch of chrome for the interior of the truck lately, I'll probably put up a picture once I get that where I want it. The outside is done other than getting a set of hubcaps for the trailer wheels and chopping the stacks flat, so I can mount my flappers on. Haha.

Sweet. Glad to hear you have a company thats willing to train you. Most companies want experienced drivers. I'm also glad to hear you are heading in the right direction. Most people your age haven't decided what they want to do for the rest of their life.

Thanks guys! I have known I wanted to drive truck ever since I knew what one was and I've never even considered other jobs. I closed a lot of doors, so it's a good thing I seem to enjoy truckin', haha. The Pete is a good lookin' truck, but it's been through a few drivers and is a bit beat up... not a show worthy truck really. However, if everything goes according to plan, the Reo will be at Salt Lake in August. If it doesn't make the Salt Lake show, I plan to have both my Reo and my pick-up at a show in Salina in September.
