Look to any 65 F100 4x4 or 65 66 F250 4x4.The mounts in these trucks will fit the 61 to 64 frame.

64 did not come with 390 engines.

First year for FE is 65.

Don't know if I can help; but I'm putting a 360 with a C-6 in a 64 F100; I'm using a after market cross memeber that bolts on the frame rails; 360 motor mounts; I cut down (notch) the factory back originial motor mounting crossmember; also had to modified the automatic transmission crossmember alittle. Sorry no pic's and don't know if a 4x4 frame setup is different than a 2wd. I was runnnig a 223 3spd in my originial set up.
most aftermarket vendors have the crossmember for around $119; I purchase from Carolina classic. but i got my motor mounts cheaper from Advance auto. hope this helps ya out.
Sorry no pic's. Also since its a tight fit; I'm running a electric van; instead of oem style. Also had to convert my oil filter mounting plate fron a horiziontal type to vertical for clearance as well.

Check out Buzz44's project thread for his 65 F100 4x4. It has some good shots of the front mount set up on his 352( same FE engine family as the 390 ) .

Ok ill try to do this with pics and make it understandable. The first pic is of the 63 F2504x4 frame and should be the same as your 64. If you look at the front of the frame just behind the large cross member you see a rubber mount sitting there that is where the front mount will go.

Click the image to open in full size.

The next shot will be the parts you need for you to make a FE block to go into this frame application.

Click the image to open in full size.

The large truck should have these parts bell housing, timing chain cover, you will need the timing chain cover as it is wider than the stock cover. I dont have a side by side pic on that. The other part I got from Ford years ago was the rectangle shape mounting block that goes below the front mount that is just above it that bolts to the timing chain cover. The big bell has the 2 mounting ears you will need for the rear engine mounts. Hope this is a help to you. Years ago when I started this quest it wasnt to hard to get this all together. It may be a little harder now but I think at least in this area some of the larger trucks are being parted on CL. Good luck.

Oh just a quick shot of where the rear bell ears will sit on your frame.

i have a 64 f100 4x4 that has a 390 in it already when i bought it i'm now getting some time to work on it while im waiting on some things for my 71 and noticed the engine setup how it looked non factory it was mounted from the front of the engine to the middle of the front crossmember and at the bellhousing to crossmeber and no engine perches the 390 doesn't run good and the trans grinds going in gears and i just pulled a running 360 with a np435 4 speed out of my 71 f250 4x4 i was wondering how hard it will be to swap these motors out? and make the 360 work in the 64? will i need to swap anything off the 390 or use the 390's bellhousing? or will it be a direct swap dont have to change anything i'd like to use the np435 trans that was with the 360 as it shifted fine and no grinding. could i use the engine stands that bolted to the frame in my 71 to use for my 64?

The 360 and 390 are 100% interchange. Sounds like someone already did the hard work. Are you sure the truck is actually a 64? Post the vin number. The only basic difference is the grill and badges and those may have been changed due to damage.

The F100 frame was completely redesigned in 65 with the coil spring radius arms in leiu of leaf springs, so no later parts direct interchange.

Hold on Garbz are you talking about the 2 wheel drive or the 4x4 in 65. If you are talking about 4x4 F100 then Im afraid I must disagree. Here is a pic of the 65 F100 4x4.

Click the image to open in full size.

Also in the backround behind the 65 sits a 63 F250 4x4 virtually the same frame. There are some minor differences but almost identical. As a matter of fact today I made a measurement from the center of the front motor mount bolt to the rear engine mount crossmember for the trans mount ears there is about 1/2 inch difference in length. Again if you are talking 2 wheel drive you are right on.

You probably had better use that 390 bell if it has ears mounting to that rear cross under the trans as that is a factory correct install. Did you take a look at my 65 4x4 tear down pics if you did you should see on your truck if it has a front big block motor mount just what you see on my 65. Unless some fabed in a front mount of some sort. Can you post up some pics so we can see what you are dealing with or talking about.

Your Picture looks like a 61 to 65 F100 four wheel drive frame as i state? What are you disagreing on? As i sure dont know.

My post above is quite coherent with exception of the 65 in stead of 66 typo. It should have been 66 when the major changes took place. Where do i send the cookie?

Garbz.

CB,

It looks like someone transplanted in the engine and fabbed up the front mount extension. Probally from a 65 66 F350 or larger rig.

This setup should work with my 360 right do I just need the bellhousing and the front u shape bracket that bolts to the timing cover? Or will I need the timing cover to? Also what all engine options were available in 64 for these trucks?
