Do I make the plung??? not too old to new??

Hi there all, looking for any help possible to try to help me make the decion to buy the new 2011 F-350 6.7 diesel super cab 8' bed. I currently OWN and drive a 2006 F-250 gas job regular cab and 8' bed. This is a work truck but also my daily driver, This truck has had its fair shair of problems but as off now $2500 later after most recent repair (crazy death wobble issue) it is going good. I do a bit of towing, cars and snowmobiles mostly and drive alot of miles in summer inwinter going to maine and back to CT. Trying to decide if its worht the plung right now or if I should wait... It is a very nice truck but is it worth the $53,000 sticker??? With my X-plan its down to about the $48,000 range with another $3500 in rebates. The dealer wants to give me $11,000 for the 2006 (with 56k miles on it and many extras on it including tires with less then 2k miles on them) and here comes the end of the month and them telling me it wont be worth as much next month HA!. Let me know what you think, I have read alot of postings on here about the truck most good, some bad and for me its a tough call right now.....

I hear the 2012s might be coming out soon but don't know exactly when. Might be worth to see if there will be some nice upgrades compared to the 11. Downside is you prob won't get the same rebates as on the 11. I'm the type of person that feels that once I'm gonna get rid of a car, I'd rather get rid of it ASAP to not keep making the payments on it when I can be making the payments on what I'm gonna get.

Seems a little low on the trade, I got $11,000 for my 2000 XLT 7.3 on trade that had about 93K with 30K left on a Ford ESP drive train warranty. Took them less than a week to sell it on the internet. If I were you I would do it now....

Thats part of the problem, I dont have a payment on the 2006 so going from not having one for like the last 4 years to having one. Fuel prices are going crazy here in CT $4.10 or so a gallon for gas and 4.50 for diesel, and on the rise. I was thinking maybe the 2012 might have some kind of rebate due to fuel - but then I probobly wont be able to get much for mine if everyone is selling their trucks. I was looking for about $13000 for a trade and $15000 if I sold the truck my self. Its a gamble either way, the only thing right now is i dont NEED it, just WANT it. (2006 is 5.4 gas job) Thanks

With that few miles, sell your old truck privately, then worry about the new. You should be able to get a better deal than you are talking now on a 2011. Dont let the salea guys push you, get what you want for what you think is fair.

The story on the street is not much change for 2012. The 2012's will not hit the lots until late August at best...

I think I would hang tight and see how Ford fixes their tranny issues. Paul B. has reported there's a software fix that was to be released this month, but I've heard of no progress as of yet.

Hang tight... Good things come to those who wait!

Ya, for 2012 I was hoping they would have all the bugs worked out of the tranny so that was one thought and they really have to convince me to want one and they just arn't right now (the dealer) I am going to look at another one tomorow at another dealer and see what they want to give me for mine... Whether it is true or not, I bought my wife a car on like December 28 or something like that a couple years ago and they couldn't stop taking money off the thing (FJ Cruiser) so maybe the end of the year really would be worth waiting for....? Would be nice if Ford put some info out on anything new if anything coming for the 2012 though. Thanks!

Shop around

Truck is definitely worth the plunge. Got mine 3 weeks ago and still have a smile from ear to ear. I got 20000 for my banged up 05 350 diesel with 94000 miles with 6000 off list plus rebates the first dealer offered me 14500 and would not go any higher.Don't forget the tax difference if you sell it yourself

WOW $20,000!! I under stand the diesel is worth a bit more then the gas but not 9k more! They originaly offered me $9500, then went to 10k, then 2 weeks later up to 11k..... Thats the absolut highest they can go (according to them) That is great for yu - If I got any where near that I would have a nice new truck in the drive way!

Huh...I got $17500 for my 05 V10 F250 with 130K on it last October. I put it on Craigslist and it sold in 30 days. I would think a diesel would be worth at least $4K more.

what we have to remember is that of the very large amount of 6.7 diesels sold most have had no problems at all. I realize to those that have problems this is of no comfort. Here in my part of Washington I know of no one with problems. I have learned much here on the forum of problems to expect but haven't had any yet. I have 8500 miles and have now pulled the horse trailer about 10 times with much satisfaction of the power and performance. My transmission have shifted perfect in all gears and in tow mode. I hope Ford can help the others with their shifting problems. I am a happy camper with my truck.

well, i sold my 2006 f250 two tone loaded truck with all the options and the gas 5.4. with only 19000 miles on it, never had a diesel truck, took the 6.2 and the 6.7 for a test drive, thought it was day and night difference, Im not a salesman, and I dont want to try to tell anyone what to buy, but after having my new 6.7 f250 , i cant see ever going back, just love the truck, never had one with the power that it has, tows lilke a monster, runs like a race car, and I got 23. 3 miles to a gallon on the high way last week going from Altoona pa to pittsburgh ( pens game) and coulldnt believe my eyes, filled up the next day and the computer in the truck is dead on with hand calc too, I am so pleased with mine, just cant wait to get in it and drive it again, never felt like that before about any truck, you wont be sorry, trust me !! by the way, in the city i only get 16 to 17, i live up on a high mountian, but i know i could get better if i kept my foot out of the gas, but i cant...lol

I think like most here, you will find the truck will live up to your expectation. The tranny issue I have is like all of the other new Ford tranny issues I have had (I drive a new Ford fleet car every year in addition to this truck). It will get corrected, as it did with all of those fleet vehicles. For some reason Ford struggles with the tranny (time for new engineers?).

I will be buying the extended warranty. Not over fears of the engine and/or tranny potentially giving me problems, but rather from all of those electronics gadgets in the truck. I had to replace my wife's power seat motor and it cost me almost $900.

Remember, you only get to live this life once, enjoy it.
