front mounting plate bent d60 ????

I am doing d60 swap on my 97 250 and when tightening the new u-bolts the front passenger side plate (welded side) must have been bent (or bent) as the front u-bolt bent in a little on each side at the bottom. My book said torque was 120 ft lb is this correct? Is this normal or should I pull that front u-bolt and get a plate to go across the mounting bracket between the 2 ends of the u-bolt to keep it from bending in with the mounting plate?

Thanks,
Mike
