I installed mine a few months back.. over the past few weeks my lid started to resist opening. Finally today I had to push up on the glass to get it to open. Somehow it froze. I ended up breaking it to get the glass to open. I sent a message to the seller and they are sending me a new one. Just a defect I'm sure.

I'm going to have to ditch these 2wd struts and go with some of these things. 6'5" and a 4" on 35's and I'm still grazing the damn grab handle.

I'm not sure about these, I may put the stock ones back on if the girls can't shut the door easily.

Awesome fix to a factory problem
Can't believe how nice these lift the gate out of the way.
I received my new lift shocks yesterday, and put them on today. All I can say is I will never bump my head again, unless the kayaks are on the roof and the gate won't go very high anyway.
Very happy I purchased them I strongly recommend them to anyone that has ever thought the gate didn't raise up high enough,
Thanks for the information on these.
By the way, I suggest propping up the gate before removing the old shocks, the gate is rather heavy. The gate is pretty high but I am able to reach, and it does take some pull to get it down, but not overly hard for me. It might be too much for some, but good for me.
In case it helps others, I replaced my 4x4 rear glass lift supports and now have 6'7" to the bottom of the pull handle in my 05 Excursion fitted with RAS so no longer hit my head. Folks down to maybe 5' tall should be able to reach the pull handle and folks up to that 6'7" mark have no chance of hitting their head. I didn't measure it, but I'd guess it would be about 6'11" or so from the ground to the metal on the liftgate.
The extended length of the 4x4 lift support is 14".
The extended length of the 4x2 lift support is 14.72".
The extended length of these is 15.87"!
There is another support available with an extended support length of 15.25".
The liftgate will support all the way up to 16.5" before hitting the roof of the vehicle. Someone 5'4" can reach the pulldown handle all the way to 16.25". The only thing to watch out for is the liftgate hitting the roof of your garage if the ceilings are low.
Lou Fishman is incredible to work with. Highly, highly recommended.
$22.05 each.
