What's the RTV everyone uses for compressor wheel housing?

I need to swap my compressor wheel. I've read talk about RTV to seal up the housing but I haven't read anything brand specific. I did read a couple posts saying to use Ford gray RTV, but I'd sure appreciate it if someone has a part number or name of that or another RTV that works as well.

I may or may not have an oring in there, but the last housing I took apart the oring was trashed so I am assuming this one will be too if it has one. I do see some RTV on the housing seams on the one I am about to pull apart.

Thanks muchly-
Chris

Never seen the T-31 used on the turbo housing. I guess you could use it. There is no foaming issue since the RTV would never be in contact with oil. Cant say I see the need for it.

And there in lies my question. lol Thanks for the replies guys. If I don't need the ford stuff $$$ then I'd rather save the money and get some hitemp sealant. If I need the ford rtv for sure for the turbo then I'll spend the money and get it. I read about the ford stuff being formulated to stop the foaming probs, but since it's not going to be covered in oil (I did the CCV mod) I wonder if I need a $30 5oz tube of the ford stuff.

Apologies. I was thinking TA-30 and typing TA-31. The Ta-30 is what I was thinking about. So yes you got the right stuff. Can't find a temp spec on the TA-31.

Here is a good link for all chemicals Ford.

Yeah.
Thats what I spent an hour cleaning out.

They make an o-ring for them also. You can pick them up though Clay at riffraffidiesel.com

If you want my opinion use the o-ring. I don't know why some of the OBS turbos have RTV on them but if your o-ring is in good condition I don't see the need.

far as I've seen, the OBS's are all RTV'ed.

the SD's might have started the o-ring deal.
