Thanks for the tip. I usually buy through Contego Direct, but I'll call Geico to see what they offer.

I personally don’t buy the extended warranty on anything I buy. My thought on that is they wouldn’t offer them if they weren’t making money off them, and if they are making money I am getting *ucked. I know sometime down the road something will break that will cost me some money that an extended warranty would cover, not necessarily on the truck, but by not buying it on the vehicles, electronics, and everything else they try to sell it to you on, I hope to be ahead.

I agree with Mike.
Extended warranties are insurance, plain and simple. You pay an upfront cost for the premium and in return they will fix it if it breaks.
The problem is that like any good insurance company they price them according to the statistical probability of failure. Meaning that if your truck is statistically likely to see ~$1500 in repairs over 7 years and 200,000 miles, Ford will sell the warranty to the dealer for $1700 or so. The dealer then would sell that to you for around $2,000.
Can you make out on an extended warranty? Certainly! If you're that guy who has his engine grenade after 150,000 miles you will have cost Ford $13,000. But for every truck like that you will see 10 that have only minor issues.
It's like going to a casino. You may make out one or two times, but the house will always win. Like insurance, the extended warranty is only worthwhile if you can't handle the financial catastrophe of a $15K repair. If you don't regularly have that much in disposable income it's probably a wise choice if planning on keeping the truck that long.

I just bought an ecoboost and bought the 7 year extended warranty. I just got 48k miles because I don't drive much so the policy was cheap ( $725 with $50 deductible)
First time in my life to buy one, but just the parts alone are so expensive, with one repair you might near break even. On my 2005 PSD, the hydroboost failed and it was $525 just for the part. I didn't have the warranty so I drained it, and refilled it with ps fluid with stop leak. Then the elec vacuum pump failed and ford wanted over $200. I found one at NAPA made in China for $79. Those two repairs- parts and labor, would have made a warranty worthwhile. I have a BSEET in Electronics and can fix all of the electronics stuff but the parts costs alone eat you alive, so I bought the warranty.
With the 6.7 and ecoboost both being new the esp is a smart buy in my opinion

I know a lot of folks don't like the ESP. It is insurance for sure.
These truck have a boat load of sensors/electronics. IMHO, I think the ESP is a good investment.
BTW, I do them on new vehicles (the last 5) and have made money (or not lost) on 4 of them. I also do them on high end electronic purchases. Everything else I pass on them.
Funny though, I bought a hundred dollar cooler at Gander last year and declined the extended........Lid hinge broke last week. Go figure. Like someone said it is a little like Vegas.

I would have to agree with cheezit, it may seem like a lot of money but wait until the warranty runs out and see what it costs to fix these diesels. I have a 6.0L and thankfully I bought the extended warranty in 05 for $1100. and since the warranty ran out I have had well over $5K in covered repairs done. Unfortunately I just had another problem with the oil cooler and radiator that cost me out of pocket $2100. I really like the way the diesel pulls my RV but I am not sure I would buy another especially without the extended warranty.
