Clutch Chatter Questions
I am experiencing clutch chatter in 1st gear only. It does not chatter in reverse.
I've done a lot of Google searching and almost everyone who has clutch chatter has it in both first and reverse.
Now, I would think, that in reverse, the transmission output is rotating the other way, and the reversed torque balances out the torgue trying to lift the left front engine from its mount. So no shaking.
If it were a poor condition tranny mount, could that explain it?
So for those people who get chatter both in 1st and reverse, is it actually a problem with the clutch and the output from the transmission is "jerky" and shakes everything as you move forward (or backward)?
Can anyone clarify or expound on this some more?
ps: I did have the clutch all apart recently when I had the engine out and nothing showed up that I could see. But it's getting worse now, so I have to do something. Oh, with the e-brake ON, it shakes in first, but not in 3rd when I ride the clutch a bit (for testing). Less torque I guess, but the PP and flywheel are still turning the same speed with the clutch disc held stationary. I find it all confusing.

Here are some causes of clutch chattering,
oil or grease on clutch facings, glazed lining, warped clutch disc, warped pressure plate, sticking release levers, unequal adjustment of release levers, uneven pressure plate spring tension, loose engine mounts, loose splines on clutch hub, loose universal joints, loose bellhousing bolts.
