94 F 150 4X4 Tranny Problem

i just bought this 94 but I also have a 90 F-150 too. When i bought the 94 the former owner said that a shift kit was installed. The problem is that one day when I get on the gas it shifts so hard into 2nd that it sounds like it hits the floor board. The next day it might shift normal but when its in park or nuetral it has a ticking noise like a lifter tapping but its coming from the tranny. Now it doesn't do the tapping/ticking when it is shifting hard. It only does one or the other and I am really confused. Any help is appreciated.

Only a few suggestions..

What tranny in the '94? E4OD? AODE? AOD?

Check all tranny mountng bolts in the bellhousing to block; Remove inspection cover on tranny and look to see if the torque converter bolts are hitting the bellhousing OR if any are loose that attatch to the flexplate; could also be the signs of the flexplate cracked or any other number of things. Perhaps the shift kit wasn't installed correctly...Sure hope not..

Your best bet, IMO, is to make an appointment @ the tranny shop. Perhaps someone else has hit the same bump in the road as you have.

Let us know what you find.

Honestly I don't know what tranny it has right now. I did try driving it today to work with the OD turned off. When I did that it started slipping out of 4th gear. I guess I am looking at pulling it and doing a rebuild or replacement.
