Hey guys. I know alot of people are wondering what an Ecoboost will sound like with an aftermarket muffler....Well here's some videos to help anwser that question. Anyway hope ya'll enjoy.
Hey guys,
I just bought a 2011 F150 Lariat Echoboost, 4x4. Watching these videos made me wonder about the custom exhaust options on this truck and if a lot of modifications will have to be made to get a nice sound due to the turbos. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have had many throaty V8's and always loved the sound. With that said, they may sound better but they don't out perform this motor. Maybe performance has a new sound? It sure does for me!
Like many truck guys out there, I love the V8 sounds, but like said above, Id rather have the performance of the EB over the V8s at this point. Better mpg, and better hauling and towing, I will take that, afterall thats what truck is for right!
The other thing I am hearing is that Ford is making these almost un-mod-able, basically saying any aftermarket items will void warranty, I will hold off I guess until that warranty is gone. I am a fan of intakes on turbo vehicles, Id love to hear an intake on an EB truck and what hear the bypass on the turbos when you let off the throttle under boost. Would be an interesting sound from an F150. Then a nice free flowing exhaust, and you would hear those turbos like a diesel...

Do you mean I can't even change the muffler on my new EB without voiding the warranty? My truck is way, way too quiet! I put cat-backs on my new Corvette with NO problem with the warranty.
Everything I have heard to date state that any modification to them will void warranty, now I dont know how much of that is hearsay or fact. A lot depends on what dealers are willing to work with, I was told on previous vehicles that any modification to engine, be it an intake, high flow exhaust would void warranties. I will keep mine stock for a long time, I mean its putting out pretty stout numbers, and I dont see any reason to change exhaust, as it just wont do anything for me.
