Thermostat Housing

Replaced my thermostat today and when torqing the bolts, the bottom bolt hole flange on the housing snapped clean off. Needless to say, I need a new housing.

I went to AutoZone but the one they sold me was casted wrong because I couldnt get a socket or wrench on the top bolt. O'Reilley says their Motorcraft housing is a 2 week order.

Long story short, where and who makes the best replacement housing? Im not looking for fancy (or maybe I am!), just need to be able to drive my Bronco!

Thanks

I might have one in my garage I can give you for shipping. I'll check tomorrow after work.

Can you use a bolt with an internal hex that is tightened with an allen wrench ? Those bolts are easly to find at most hardware stores ? Lowes , Home Depo .

Might get you on the road quickly .

Assuming that you are referring to a 1984...

1984 F150/350, Bronco & Econoline 4.9L (300 I-6): There are TWO different types of thermostat housings, one type is 1984 only / 1985 and later is not the same.

Neither of the following have a Motorcraft part number, just Ford part numbers.

1) EOTZ-8592-B .. Thermostat Housing-Use with unleaded fuel (no, I'm not kidding!) / Obsolete

Applications: 1980/84 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline.
---------------------------------------------------
2) E4TZ-8592-B .. Thermostat Housing-Use with leaded fuel / Obsolete

Applications: 1984 F150/350, Bronco & Econoline.

Where in CA are you?
