Stuck in West Virginia/ Water Pump!!?!
Well, I lost my job and decided to move. Got a 1/4 of the way there, and my truck started to overheat. There was a small leak in the radiator and I put some STOP LEAK in it but I think it had an adverse effect on the water pump. Limped it to an exit in or near RIPLEY, WV. Water/coolant pissing constantly down the crank pulley and the belts are burning up. Alternator belt snapped and the others sound like they will go soon. I lost electical so I haven't had a chance to see what's happening while it's running.
The only good news is there's a NAPA and McD's at this exit but the bad news is I don't have a whole lotta cash and minimal skill. Napa should be open in an hour and I think I got enough charge for one more start.
Any thoughts, ideas, help? I don't know where to begin.

My first guess would be the water pump either froze up, or wrecked bearing. Where exactly is it leaking from? right above the crank pulley is the water pump. And most of the belts run off the water pump (and crank) so if the pump isn't turning right, nothing else will.
Take the belts off and see if you can turn the water pump. If it doesn't spin easily, or wobbles around, its toast. Drive to Napa and start taking it apart if you can. Then you'll be ready to go by the time they open, at least if they have a new pump for you.

Tpinman,
A leak from there is likely the pump. There is a small weep hole under the shaft that will usually show a drip trail if leaking. I got my fan clutch off with a large Harbor Freight crescent wrench that I impacted with a hammer. If I remember correctly, it is reverse thread! Also might try the users map. Could be someone close who could help. I would if I could, but it's quite a drive from here! (Oregon)
Good luck,
Mac.
